I’m an enormous fan of driving cars as long as I can. they provide true value after they’re paid off then still run. The Subaru Impreza I own is an ’02. I bought it in ’05 and I’ve had it paid off for several years now. Most years I’ve had no trouble with it either so my only expense was general maintenance, gas, and insurance. I’ve saved a bunch by continuing to drive it.
My family bought a second-hand Armada that we still own and have paid off. it’s an ’06 and that we bought it in ’12. And a second hand Nissan Titan.
As you’ll see we aren’t only big fans of driving cars for long lengths of your time, we maximize our money by buying used vehicles. we discover the most important bang for our buck is to shop for used vehicles and keep them well maintained and searching nice.
They do desire ‘new cars’ if we do our greatest to stay to those 7 top ways of creating a second-hand vehicle seem new.
1- Smell. A vehicle that smells good leaves an excellent impression for friends and family that ride in it and it is also nice for us as owners to possess wonderful smells in our used cars. Usually, auto air fresheners go stale rather quickly. But PERK air freshener doesn’t! PERK features a patent-pending StediScent™ technology, which delivers consistent, high-quality fragrance which lasts a minimum of 30 days. Every scent is awesome-seriously they’re all amazing! New cars always smell good. It makes an enormous difference to urge into an excellent smelling car vs. the choice.
2- Wash the vehicle well. I prefer to travel to the self-wash places and wash my very own cars. Afterward, while I’m drying it with a towel I exploit a mild cleanser and really soft scrub pad to urge spots off that would cause rust to create. Doing this on my ’02 Impreza for several years has made the paint job last for much longer (esp. in a neighborhood that uses tons of salt on the roads each winter). Also, wash the undercarriage if you reside during a place that uses tons of salt on the roads also.
3- Tint the windows. Tinted windows make the car much cooler, the upholstery lasts longer, discourages thieves (as they can’t see what’s inside very well), and therefore the A/C doesn’t need to work as hard to stay everyone cool… Plus, tinted windows make the car look nicer/newer (in my opinion).
4- mop up messes immediately. Cleaning something that spills or something your child did soon after the very fact will help your vehicle stay in far better shape.
5- remove what you set in (or store it within the truck). I’m a touch of a hypocrite here as I don’t always do that. But I do know I should so I’m mentioning it. While it’s easy to go away stuff within the car once you get home if you clean everything out whenever you arrive home it’ll not compile and accumulate. I’m far better at this than I used to be a couple of years ago but I could still improve more. A vehicle will certainly feel much newer if it’s not cluttered. and provides it an honest vacuum now and again.
6- Detail (step-by-step instructions here) or buy a car detail once every few years. I usually give our vehicles a very deep clean once per annum or two. this is often quite a vacuum and wipes down. I clean every crevice. Paying someone to try to to it if you’ve got it in your budget may be a great option also.
7- Use preventative measures. We use seat mats to travel under our baby and toddler car seats within the vehicle with a leather interior to guard it. That’s helped keep it looking new despite the constant movement and weight of the plastic car seats.
